Guy Symons: Owner, birding, animal behaviour, photography
Guy was born in South Africa in the late 1960s. He brings some 14 years of
experience to the field. After studying Nature conservation in Cape Town, he
moved to Zambia's South Luangwa Valley for two years before making the decision
to start operating in Botswana. Over the past 12 years he has guided hundreds of
safaris to the remote wilderness areas of northern Botswana. His passion for the
bush and his expert knowledge coupled with the utmost patience makes his safari a
real education. He conducts his safaris with the great sensitivity for the wildlife and
coupled with excellent photographic skills, this makes him one of the best guides in
the country.
Steven Stockhall: Specialist photography, film, animal behaviour
Born in Zimbabwe and "schooled" in Cape Town, Steve has spent a good part of
the past decade exploring Botswana and southern Africa. Having lived in the
Okavango Delta and guided numerous safaris over the past 10 years, Steve's
interest in wildlife and photography led him to produce the book "Earth Ark - a
photographic journey through northern Botswana." You can learn more about the
book at
Kebonye: Wildlife and people of Botswana, traditional use of plants
"Mr Ice" as he known to the people who travel with him brings a wonderful cultural
experience to the safari. Having grown up in northern Botswana, Ice's sense of
humour coupled with a tremendous knowledge of the people, flora and fauna of the
country, allows people travelling with us to gain insight into how people lived in the
region over the past few hundred years.
Ronnie and Mello are the people to keep us on the road. Ronnie, our chef, keeps us
supplied with delicious meals that are cooked over an open fire. His claim to fame is
his coal baked bread - something you will always remember. Mello, our driver
mechanic, keeps the wheels rolling. Alex, our camp hand attends to putting the tents
up and serving our meals. Together they manage the setting up of our camps,
ensuring that there is hot water available for showers and that the camp fire is
always set. These guys are lots of fun and you can join them in the kitchen to see
how it all works.
Edurne and Kim have the mighty task of making sure all the bookings are in order.
From food supplies, to emergency orders, to being on radio call for any
emergencies. They are our contact with the outside world. Edurne, Guy's wife, hails
from Spain while Kim has joined us after 17 years in London. Together, they make
sure that everything runs according to plan. Believe us, this is no easy task.
